04 July 2022

Today, the Equator Principles Association is announcing the appointment of an interim COO. Jon Hancox, a very experienced environmental and social (E&S) consultant well known to many EPFIs and stakeholders, will be leading the delivery of the EP work plan for the remainder of 2022.

The appointment of a dedicated EP leadership resource marks an important step forward for the Association. The Steering Committee recognises that in order to remain the authoritative environmental and social risk management framework across the financial services industry, EP must continue to keep pace with broader developments, as well as looking for opportunities to grow and develop. To do this, it is now necessary to evolve our management structure to better reflect both the external environment as well as our ever-growing membership, now at 134 FIs globally.

We were very pleased by the number and quality of candidates and are very excited to see how Jon can deliver on the priorities of the Association, drawing on his extensive experience working with EPFIs over many years. Jon will work closely with the Steering Committee and Secretariat.

For the remainder of 2022, Jon will focus on key initiatives designed to: strengthen our membership and drive up the consistency of implementation and increase transparency in reporting.

Amit Puri, EP Association Chair, and Global Head of Environmental and Social Risk Management, Standard Chartered: “I’m delighted to be announcing the EP Association’s first ever COO. I am ambitious for the future of the Association and excited to see where we can go over the coming years. The appointment of Jon marks an important first step in the development of the Association’s operations. I’m confident that with his help, the Association will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Jon Hancox, EP Association Interim COO: “I’m very pleased to have this opportunity to support and advance the important work of the Association, and look forwarding to working with the Steering Committee, Secretariat, the EPFIs and wider stakeholders to achieve this.”
